By midlife, every man faces some darkness ~ whether it be uncertainty, grief, shame, loss, fear, change, or the quiet sense that something is missing...
Hello Darkness is not a workshop and not a performance you simply sit back and watch. It is an intimate evening of stories, songs, poetry, music, and improv ~ where what is shared in the room can be reflected back with beauty, humour, and heart.
Come to be surprised, moved, and reminded that you do not have to walk alone. Leave feeling less alone, soulfully nourished, and practically inspired to carry a little more light into the life of another man.

World class Indo-Jazz musician, band leader, and maestro of sound healing, while also a fiercely playful father and deeply devoted guide to the spiritual realms.

A life long lover of mystery, troubadour of playful and soulful music, fat with wisdom and storytelling riches and steward of the Black River land with Kim Brodey and family.

ALA Roshdieh
Ala is a healer and a magician who defies labels. I would say he has the soul of a poet, as deep and wide as Neruda, Hafiz, and Gibran. While his presence can be sombre or full of mirth and playfulness like Frank Zappa and Weird Al Jankovich.
DAVID Jurasek
The grateful man who has such incredible and powerful friends to gather at this time. A storyteller, filmmaker, poet, therapist, Sensei and community leader. He will shed all roles to bear some stories of his own darkest moments with us... and the three miracles that saved his life 20 years ago, as he stood on a rooftop wanting to die.

So, what can I expect, really...?
You’ll hear stories, songs, poems, and music from men I deeply respect.
But the evening will also include Playback Theatre — a form of improvised theatre and music where audience members may briefly share a feeling, memory, image, or response, and the actors reflect it back with care and artistry.
You are always invited, never pressured. You can share, witness, listen, laugh, cry, stay quiet, or simply take it in.
The point is not to perform vulnerability. The point is to remember that none of us has to face the dark alone.
Can I bring a friend?
This is an evening of brotherhood. We hope you invite a man you care about. And that you don't hijack him. Tell him you're coming and why it feels right to you. Do I have to share something...?
Hell No. This ain't no social pressure performative bullshit. We respect you to share a piece of your experience if you choose to during the live improv part... or NOT...
This evening is about learning to trust yourself in moments of uncertainty... And to share in it together.
